Mr. Hiroshi Tachibana dug out two great german Nasenflöte videos. In the first one, the musician plays a Schwan nose flute and a classical (flamenco) guitar.

The second one is a duet playing the Monthy Python song Always look on the bright side of life, on a pair of heart-shaped nose flutes.
I love the first video. To me this is the very first virtuoso nose flute performance out here, as the player demonstrates great tone, timbre, control and use of effects. Additonally, he plays the guitar simultaneously, doing so in a virtuoso manner, creating great texture. Finally, the player adds a third effect, that of percussion, whilst continuing to play both instruments simultaneously, holding great form and control. I am very happy this video is out here, because now we can finally see and hear the nose flute being played proficiently. Hats off. To me, this is a new starting point for the nose flute as a serious instrument.
ReplyDeleteHello Maikel, you are right - about the performance itself, for sure – but also about "nose flute as a serious instrument"...
