This blog is dedicated to the sublime instruments called nose flutes and which produce the most divine sound ever. We have chosen to discard all the native models from S. Pacific and Asia, for they need fingering to be played. We'll concentrate on "buccal cavity driven" nose flutes : the well patented and trademarked metal or plastic ones, plus, by a condemnable indulgence, some wooden craft or home-made productions.

Nose flute as alarm whistle

In the picture below, taken during a recent march against the relaunch of nuclear plants in Japan, you can see a man whistling his nose flute. (Photo by Takuma Ikeyama)

  1. Wow! Our japanese friends are far ahead again! What a creative and joyful way of demonstrating. I can only dream of recruiting a nose flute ensemble for a demonstration. Thanks for posting!
