This blog is dedicated to the sublime instruments called nose flutes and which produce the most divine sound ever. We have chosen to discard all the native models from S. Pacific and Asia, for they need fingering to be played. We'll concentrate on "buccal cavity driven" nose flutes : the well patented and trademarked metal or plastic ones, plus, by a condemnable indulgence, some wooden craft or home-made productions.

Wow! Look!

Look at what's preparing Master Kunio Katada! More and more incredible at each new batch!

  1. Dear Mr Katada, you really blow me away with your amazing work!

One cheeky question I have: I notice in the bottom two hanabue on the right and the second from the left bottom some very interesting lines: could you try and make the curves of a female torso appear within the shape of the hanabue, similar to the paintings that were posted recently?

    Thank you so much!

  2. I am not sure if Mr. Katada read this blog, since it is written in "Globish" language...
But knowing a bit the work of this master, I'm incline to think that he surely could, but would not. All the shapes and designs of his nose flutes are "abstract". Maybe would he find kitsch to associate another shape/meaning to his hanabue, and even more, I'm not sure it would fit the Japanese will of decency to associate a woman bust to a nose flute.

I think that with those "Sonya Delaunay" new style (the round bubbles), Mr. Katada as reached another higher level of creativity.

    1. I see your points, Antoine, about the abstract design and the possible Japanese restraints on portraying or revealing. However, I cannot help but think that at least two of the hanabue in this batch remind me of Sumo wrestlers's behinds...!

Be aware that I am not referring to any actual erotic undertone, but the beauty of the curved line. If anyone, the Japanese are masters in that genre, which is why I ask.

This wonderful work is the next step in hanabue design!
